Find The Waffle House.

I hate hearing, “Don’t you hate driving that distance by yourself? What if something happens? You’re alone.”
Thanks Karen, for pointing that out. Now mind your business and run along.

I hated the idea too, until I did it. And it was one of the best things I could have done. Now I recommend everyone do it at least once.

Does it get lonely? Yep. Do I mind? Nope. I just make the drive. My mind runs like a constant tornado, so I stay entertained.

You get a lot of time to think. Big stuff, small stuff, and my favorite, random knowledge. Sometimes I travel at night. And that’s when my tornado mind realized something.

Look for a Waffle House exit.
Yeah, I know their reputation. But hear me out.

FEMA has the Waffle House Index. I always found it interesting that they use it as a measuring tool for natural disasters. So what else could it be used for?

It could be used as a safety index too.

The staff is top notch. We have all seen what they can do. They do not play and are well versed in just about any situation you can think of.

Since they are open all night, a lot of law enforcement ends up there. Doing paperwork, grabbing a late dinner or early breakfast, or coming off whatever they just had to deal with.

So I find the Waffle House, then the gas station. Always.

It is a great place if you are not looking for trouble. And if you are the trouble, it is not the place for you.

Yeah, Waffle House will be there. Waiting. Always.
